Week 2 Recap and Week 3 Bulletin
6/27/25
For Summer Camp Week 2, campers took a deep dive into under-the-sea fun!
🖌️Campers crafted mermaids with of bubble paint, molded sea creatures with air-dry clay, used various materials to create sharks and jellyfish, and assembled their own seashell art.
🧬For this week’s STEM challenge, campers were tasked with building a “boat” out of aluminum foil that would not only float in water, but also hold the highest number of rubber duckies without sinking. The winner of this challenge (and this week’s STEM Star) was Iris from Unit 2, whose boat successfully held 34 duckies!
🧘🏽♀️ Our intern from Wild Orchid Wellness led our campers through activities to refresh and align their mind and body, including a team-building water game, sensory bins, and a trivia game.
👟 Campers enjoyed lots of water play this week! With the heat wave Monday-Wednesday, outside activities always involved the pool or water games to keep everyone cool. Wednesday also included a dual-race Slip-and-Slide specialty (a huge hit). In the gym, they jumped into a game of “Fishy, Fishy” and a “Conveyor Belt” Team Challenge.
🌍 From The Little Mermaid, to jellyfish, to a shark attack (!), this week’s dress-up day was full of fin-tastic costumes and outfits from campers and staff!
🚴♀️Bold Adventures campers explored the Submarine Force Library & Museum (Groton) on Monday, visited amazing animals at Mystic Aquarium on Tuesday, made a splash at Hammonasset Beach State Park on Wednesday, and went for a peaceful hike in the cooler weather at Wadsworth Falls State Park (Middletown) on Thursday.
📢 Leaders-in-Training joined Bold Adventures campers on Wednesday to enjoy Hammonasset Beach State Park!

- SWIM LESSONS
- Please be advised, that during free swim time, beginner swimmers do have the opportunity to use life vests. However, during swim lessons, our swim instructor does not allow use of them for the following reasons:
- They prevent proper learning of swim skills and managing body position.
- They create a false sense of security. It’s important during lesson time that they create trust with the instructor in the water.
- They interfere with learning water confidence!
- All swim lessons are taught with an Water Safety Instructor (WSI) in the water with the camper at all times, and a lifeguard supervising from outside the pool.
- If your camper expresses that they are not comfortable getting into the water, our WSI always allows them to opt out when it is time for their lesson.
