Gymnastics

At Girls Inc. of Meriden, we offer a full-service gymnastics program model for ages 2–18, with both recreational and competitive options for the budding gymnasts. Our coaches are USAG safety certified to ensure your loved ones are receiving a safe and high-quality gymnastics experience.

Recreational Gymnastics

Our recreational gymnastics’ classes, strive to provide our gymnasts with a fun, comprehensive, and structured environment to allow each student to learn at their own pace and develop a strong foundation in gymnastics!

Our classes are divided by age and skill level, with a limited number of participants to maintain small class sizes. Our coaches routinely evaluate gymnasts’ skill level and consult with families to review options to ensure all students have the ability to grow. The goal is always to assess the gymnast based on skill level and maturity, in consultation with the family.

Gymnastics classes run once a week for fifty minutes, or thirty minutes for the toddler classes. We have variety of options including evening classes and Saturdays to accommodate the needs of every family. During the year we run gymnastics throughout the following season: Fall, Winter, and Spring. Registration is ongoing, with limited class sizes. At the end of each season we invite families to come watch their gymnast’s showcase their skill.

The Competitive Team

Our competitive gymnastics team requires a strong foundation of physical ability and mental focus. Gymnasts will learn work ethic, persistence, confidence, and so much more.

Our gymnastics team competes approximately 10 competitions during the winter and spring in the AAU League. Depending on the competitive level, practice time in the gym ranges from 4.5-6 hours per week. Our team trains year-round.

Gymnasts who wish to be on our competitive team must be evaluated and invited to join. At the end of each school year, our coaches evaluate each gymnast in our recreational program and invite gymnasts to join that show readiness, in both skill level and maturity. If your gymnast is invited and chooses not to join, she can still continue in our recreational program. Being invited to the competitive team means that your gymnast has the skill level and maturity necessary to be successful in a competitive environment; the choice is up to the gymnast and family to decide if you would like to make the commitment.

When Do Gymnastics Programs Run?

Gymnastics programs run during the school year for 3 term: Fall, Winter and Spring. We have options for weeknight evening classes as well as classes on Saturdays to meet the needs of families for their convenience. Registration is ongoing.
